Key considerations when purchasing surplus spare parts

Categories: Parts

As with most any purchase, buyer beware is applicable in the used semiconductor parts market.  There are different definitions for used parts around the world and you want to make sure you get what you need.

  • 2nd Source – Not originally made by the OEM.  This is not a condition but a type.
  • Used – Could be OEM or 2nd Source.  Not new, previously used.  May have cosmetic damage but remains functional.
  • Refurbished – Could be OEM or 2nd source and though previously used, this part has been repaired and or cleaned.
  • Like New – Could be OEM or 2nd source and not ever used or slightly used.  Packaging may be opened or not in original packaging.
